Our Mamaw and Childlike Faith

Jun 9, 2012
We are VERY behind on our blog so I am going to try to get caught up.  Our summer has been full of joy and sadness...tears and laughter as we have so enjoyed watching Cate and Charlie grow but we were so sad to say goodbye to our Mamaw.  She loved books and I must say she lived a storybook life, but the end came too soon.  We love you, Mamaw.
Here are pictures of the 4 kids with Carrol/Betty and the two of them by themselves.

From the mouths of babes...afterwords, Cate told all of us "Mamaw is in heaven now.  Do you know how she got there?  Uncle Mitchy came and got her, he wanted to come in his airplane but it was broken, so he came in his rocketship!"  I am pretty convinced that Mitch came to get her in a rocketship just as much as I wish we could all have childlike faith like Cate.

I found this poem thought I thought fit these pictures well.

Her Hands
by Maggie Pittman
Her hands held me gently from the day I took my first breath.
Her hands helped to guide me as I took my first step.
Her hands held me close when the tears would start to fall.
Her hands were quick to show me that she would take care of it all.
Her hands were there to brush my hair, or straighten a wayward bow.
Her hands were often there to comfort the hurts that didn't always show.
Her hands helped hold the stars in place, and encouraged me to reach.
Her hands would clap and cheer and praise when I captured them at length.
Her hands would also push me, though not down or in harms way.
Her hands would punctuate the words, just do what I say.
Her hands sometimes had to discipline, to help bend this young tree.
Her hands would shape and mold me into all she knew I could be
Her hands are now twisting with age and years of work,
Her hand now needs my gentle touch to rub away the hurt.
Her hands are more beautiful than anything can be.
Her hands are the reason I am me.

New playset! WOO HOO!

Mar 19, 2012
WeeeeeEEEEEE! I love my new playset!

Daddy and the neighbor worked all day on Saturday and then Cate and Charlie helped a bit with the finishing touches on Sunday...quite the helpers!

Finished picture (minus the slide and baby swing)

THANKS PAPA AND GRANDMA JANE FOR SUCH A FABULOUS GIFT FOR US!

Even a chaise lounge chair from Grandma Jane to hang out...

Cate and Sophia playing in their "fort."

At first, Cate wasn't too excited about going up to the top. She said, "Daddy, I really love it but it scares me a little." By the end of the day she was taking orders from the little bar/picnic set. The "special" of the day was broccoli and apple/strawberry juice. Charlie needs to learn to walk now to enjoy this new big toy...for now he is just content (and a bit obsessed) with opening and closing the door.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Charlie even looks the part of an Irishman!!!
Cate and Sophia enjoying the parade downtown. It was really fun.
Charlie clapped the entire time and cheered. Cate and Sophia collected beads and a bit of candy with Shamrock shakes afterwards. The big fun came at a "girls store" (Kohls) stop on the way home for shoe shopping for the girls...oh my!
